Lefka was the labor center of Piraeus and the entrepôt of the whole industrial activity of Piraeus. It borders on the east with Kaminia, on the north with Palea Kokkinia, on the west with Papastratos having as limits the railway lines of OSE and on the south with Gouva of Vavoulas and Paliatzidika having as limits the railway lines of ISAP. The area is scattered with factories, repair shops and machine shops, many of which are now barely operating or even closed, such as: the Retsina brothers’ textile industry (the only surviving of the company’s five factories, which operated in Piraeus from the late 19th century until the first post-war years), the Kerani tobacco industry (the third largest tobacco industry operating in Greece after Karelias and the neighboring Papastratos) and the former Papastratos factory in the area of Agios Dionysios, which was recently (2021) remodelled and converted into a hotel.
