Building at 149 Karaiskou Street

7714

It is a three-story building, with a garden facing Alkiviadou Street (open plot), bearing characteristic morphological elements of Neoclassicism. The coatings on the faces are formed by alternations of architrave beads in imitation of isodomic masonry. Cornice bands separate the floors. The openings are surrounded by casings and feature wooden French shutters. The openings on the second floor are crowned with a projecting cornice reinforced with supporting beams. Horizontal bands on the pulled plaster coatings – in imitation of an entablature- adorn the edge of the building, which displays decorative elements of dentils. The projecting roof eave has a series of antefixes. The second floor has two balconies with cast-iron railings, supported by marble corbels. The semi-circular format of the extreme corner edge of the facade towards the garden, is of particular interesting.
