Building at 47 Ir. Polytechniou Avenue Street

7702

It is a three-story building with decorative elements that refer to influences from Eclecticism. Shops are housed on the ground floor and the offices of the Piraeus Bar Association are located on the first floor. The main entrance is placed centrally in relation to the vertical axis, flanked by two pilasters with imposts on either side, and bears a marble frame with arched corner finials, decorated with floral motifs (a clear reference to Jugendstil motifs). The first floor has triple balconies with metal railings. The facade on the ground floor and first floor shows architrave beads in the plaster giving the impression of a masonry technique using a series of built-in stones in a vertical direction to the ground, in contrast to the format on the second floor.
