The Hippocrates Hydrotherapy Center or the ” Skounakis Baths ” on the Protopsalti Coast was a pioneering treatment center for the time, which combined recreation with the benefits of hot baths. It was created by I. Skounakis in 1928 and operated continuously until 1999. It had ten rooms with built-in bathtubs, and provided relevant treatments with warm sea baths as well as regular fresh water baths. When the building was constructed, the sea reached in front of the treatment center, and through suction pipes they pumped the seawater, which, after being heated, ended up in individual baths (bathtubs) that the visitor rented. Nowadays, it remains closed.
