Building at 18 Sotiros Dios and 1 Platonos Streets

7664

It is a two-story building with characteristic neoclassical morphological elements and symmetrical faces. In the spaces of the ground floor, which are used as shops, overlapping openings with a semi-circular ending are formed. In the central axis of the façade towards Kapodistriou Street, on the first floor there is a triple balcony with metal railings, while, along Platonos Street, the face is divided into three parts while at the two ends there are two double balconies with marble corbels and metal railings. The underlying surface of the balconies displays rosette caisson patterns. The openings on the first floor bear frames and are crowned with an entablature section with triangular pediment, while the corners of the building are decorated with pilasters. The corner end, at the junction of Sotiros Dios and Platonos Streets, on the ground floor is decorated with architrave beads and pulled plaster, while on the first floor there are false pilasters with Corinthian imposts. Architrave bands and serrated bands traverse the upper part of the building’s faces, while a series of supporting beams hold the projecting cornice up.
