Haragionis Mansion

7621

The original neoclassical building, which stretches along the Ethnikis Antistasis, Tsamados and Makras Stoas Streets, next to the church of Agia Triada, was built in the 1880s and was known as the “Kalamari Mansion”, as it belonged to the merchant Nikolaos Kalamaris. In 1901 after the death of its owner, the building was sold and renovated in order to be used as a hotel under the name “Parthenon Great Hotel”. However, the building was linked to the city’s political history, as Eleftherios Venizelos chose it as the polling station of the Liberal Party in both the parliamentary and municipal elections. More recently, between 1991 and 1994, the building was converted into a shopping mall.
